Update: November 7th 2011.
Tina passed away this morning after a 20 month battle with cancer. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone for the assistance you have provided to Tina and her family to help ease their burden as they have gone thru this. My words cannot express how privileged she was to have so many wonderful people in her life.
I will leave this posting up for a while as an inspiration to others who are looking for some way they can help ease the burden for their family and the people they care about.
I will miss you sis!
Dear friends, family and other caring people, Most of you know about my sister and her fight with cancer the last several months. For newcomers, I will recap. My sister, Tina, was diagnosed with stage IV kidney cancer in February 2010. She is 37 years old and lives in Mead, Colorado with her husband, Brian, and two kids, Emily and Easton. Tina underwent surgery to remove one kidney and the 6 lb tumor that had taken it over. Unfortunately, the cancer had already spread to other locations in her body by the time it was diagnosed, including her liver, bones and lymph nodes. By mid-summer, two different treatments had not worked and Tina was losing hope. Then she started a third treatment, which she is still doing now. The side effects are brutal and she has been very sick. At the last scan, the cancer seemed to be stabilizing, and maybe even shrinking. Her next scan is in November and we hope for good news. In spite of everything, Tina has continued to bless us all with her amazing attitude. She is truly an inspiration. Earlier this year, I asked for your help. The outpouring of love and generosity was simply amazing. All of the donations collected in the spring helped to replace Tina’s lost income over the last 8 months. Without your help, things would have been drastically worse for Tina and her family. So many of you made generous donations, even though times are tough right now. People have cooked, cleaned, driven the kids and even pulled the weeds. From the bottom of my heart, I thank each and everyone of you who has heard the call and helped in some way, whether it was a prayer, a donation, a meal or something else. I am asking for your help once again. The money raised earlier this year has been slowly used over the last 8 months for living expenses. Tina will qualify for Social Security benefits starting in February 2011, which will be helpful in carrying her family through this difficult time. Until then, it will be difficult to make ends meet. Please make a small donation if you can. Your donation is secure and can be made with a credit card or PayPal account. Just enter an amount in the green box to the right and the donation will go directly to Tina’s account. If you’d rather donate by cash or check, just let me know. There is a bank account set up for this purpose and we can still manually enter your donation on this site for tracking purposes. I know times are difficult for many right now. Being an insurance agent, I see so many personal tragedies turn into financial tragedies. I am trying to prevent that from happening to my sister and her family. The response so far has been overwhelming and we are humbled by the generosity and kindness from so many people. Please spread the word! Post links to this site on your Facebook page or other networking site and email to your friends and family. Together we can make a difference! ~James Lundin
