First United Methodist Church of Bristol, TN is supporting disaster relief in Haiti through the mission work of church member and Haitian native Laferne Preptit.
Laferne will fly out February 9 and stay in Haiti for two weeks. While there he will open the house he rents in Port-au-Prince for his mother as an emergency shelter for 15 homeless orphans. Laferne will hire care takers for the children and make arrangements for their care for the next three months. While the current fund-raising campaign only covers three months, Preptit plans to care for these children for as long as necessary. While in Haiti, Preptit will also distribute clothing, shoes and over the counter medicine to those in need. FUMC Bristol hopes to raise over $4,000 to cover the first three months of Preptit’s expenses.
100% of donations to this campaign go directly to the care for the 15 Haitian children and are completely tax deductible. By early March pictures of Laferne’s trip (the work he has done and the children he is helping) will be available at http://fumcbristol.org
Do not miss this unique opportunity to have a dramatic impact on the lives of 15 children who have been left with nothing after the recent devastation in Haiti.
