Help Paulina & Others in Cusco

By @bradleyjoyce ( 19 Medal_bronze_2 )

UPDATE 2

Our friend Daniela in Cusco has recently returned from visiting Paulina and finding out more about Rolando’s situation. The news from Daniela is that Paulina and others in the area are most in need of:

  • clothing
  • skin medications and disinfectants
  • cough/respiratory medicine
  • stomach medicine

These medications being necessary because of the now very unsanitary conditions in many places and the lack of clean water.

I need to stress that ALL of your donations will be going to purchase the items and deliver them directly to Paulina and others that need them.

WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP AND GENEROSITY!! So many areas are STILL not receiving ANY kind of government or outside assistance!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

  • UPDATE ** – We’ve received news that while damaged, Paulina’s home isn’t a total loss. This is very encouraging! Thank you all so much for your generous donations as they will go A LONG WAY! We’ve also learned that another one of our friends and participants in the program, Rolando (a corn farmer) is OK as well as his family. However, much of their infrastructure including their Cooperative’s processing plant has been extremely damaged. We’ll be in contact with Rolando to see how we can help as well! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!

The province of Cusco in Peru was recently hit with 4 solid days of torrential rainfall that has caused massive flooding of the region’s lakes and rivers. Thousands of people have been affected and have lost their homes and livelihoods.

My friend Paulina is one of those people, along with her young family.

I met Paulina when I traveled to Peru as part of a State Department program to assist small business owners in developing countries. Paulina owned an operated a business creating clothing and other items from Alpaca wool. As of this point in time, we don’t yet know how much of her equipment and raw materials she will be able to recover after the flood waters recede.

More importantly, Paulina and her family are in immediate need of shelter, new clothing, food and water.

She needs your help, as do so many others in the region. Any money collected here will be sent directly to trustworthy people that will be assisting Paulina and her family in this difficult time.

Thank you for being awesome!
