***NOTE: PayPal fiasco over, thanks to Garry from Pledgie. You can now resume donations here, sorry for the delay.
I am trying to raise enough money to put my commercial and personal projects on the back burner for several weeks / months, so that I can work on open source Ruby projects that are in high demand by the community.
I am looking for a small salary of $500/wk for up to 26 weeks of work, beginning on April 15, 2008. This means that $13000 would keep me working on this project for 6 months. Though I will be willing to accept some excess pay to make things a little more comfortable, I have set a cap at $20000.
If I don’t raise $13000, I will happily work for 4 weeks, or even 2. Of course, the longer I can keep this project up, the better.
Ruby Central, Inc. has agreed to match donations dollar per dollar up to $5000, so that means that I only need to raise $8000 from community donations to reach my goal of working for 6 months.
Please take a look at my full proposal for more details. Thank you so much for supporting this effort!
-Gregory Brown

Wow that really sucks. Maybe we should add a google checkout option to Pledgie.

Hey Greg,
I’m going to contact PayPal and see what’s up. No one was ever “blocked” before by using Pledgie. We have a contact over there and I’ll see what he says.
