We’ve done our best to bring the latest technology to Cronos while still maintaining the
stability and security. We try to bring you an Linux Desktop Edition that just works out of the box!

Cronos 1.1 brings many enhancements and software that is bleeding edge, among which you’ll find one of the advanced desktop environments available today: Gnome Version: 2.30. Just plug and play. Cronos desktop should be suitable for any level of Linux experience.

Cronos Linux uses the 2.6.33-ck1 kernel that brings you advanced Desktop performance features. With Con Kolivas 1 (ck1) 2.6.33 desktop performance patches (including BFS).
Kernel support for X DRI (the Direct Rendering Interface) brings high-speed hardware accelerated 3D graphics to Linux. Pushing new desktop technologies into the forefront of Linux and this is what Cronos DE is all about.

Here are some of the advanced features of Cronos Linux 1.1:

- openRC universal init system.

  • Works with POSIX shell scripts and userland.
  • Names runlevels which can be stacked (inherited)
  • Can specify dependencies in code
  • Can run services in parallel
  • Ensures daemons really start and tracks them so you know when they’ve crashed
  • Services can be re-entrant (important for the network being configured in the background)
  • Colourised output – and trivial to use in init scripts
  • Can log entire console output of bringing the system up, to aid any debugging (not necessarily OpenRC debugging)
  • Provides an API for any shell script or C program to use OpenRC colourisation and service manipulation

- Runs the 2.6.33 version of the Linux kernel from ftp.kernel.org.
With Con Kolivas 1 (ck1) 2.6.33 desktop performance patches (including BFS).

- GNU C Library, version 2.10.1
This version of glibc also has excellent compatibility with
existing binaries.

- X.Org X Server 7.4
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0
Build Operating System: Cronos_Linux Mali_Laurent
There’s been much activity in the X development world, and the
improvements in terms of performance and hardware support are
too numerous to mention them all here.

- Installs gcc (CronosLinux) 4.4.1

- Support for fully encrypted network connections with OpenSSL,
OpenSSH, OpenVPN, and GnuPG.

- PCMCIA, CardBus, USB, IEE1394 (FireWire) and ACPI support.
Perfectly suited for laptops.

- The udev dynamic device management system for Linux 2.6.×.
This locates and configures most hardware automatically as it
is added (or removed) from the system, and creates the access
nodes in /dev. It also loads the kernel modules required by
sound cards and other hardware at boot time.

- New development tools, including Perl, Python, Ruby, Subversion, git, mercurial, graphical tools like geany, pyShell, and much more.

- Cronos Package Manager Version 0.2.1

- Web browsers: Cronos Firefox 3.6, Chromium (Chrome with SPDY protocol support) and Opera.

- The Gnome Desktop 2.30

- A big repository of extra software packages.

- And many more packages!

Enjoy this release!

The credit loans are very useful for people, which would like to organize their own business. By the way, that’s very easy to receive a collateral loan.
