Scooter Accidents are Horrible!!

By @saborKT ( 6 )

On April 23rd, a woman ran a stop sign in front of me as I was on my way to work. It was 8 days after my 21st birthday. I was on a beautiful 3-week old scooter that I got as an early birthday present for myself, after lusting over scooters for years and years. I landed 20 feet from the scooter. My helmet came off in the crash. The entire top part of my foot was scraped off, and bones were both visible and pulverized.
I spent the next two weeks in the hospital. I endured 6 surgeries, had two toes amputated, broke my wrist, and have a large scar on my scalp now.
During the stay, the social worker at the hospital gave me a SINGLE name of an attorney with whom to work. In my drug-addled, depressed, suicidal state, I signed the paperwork. Now they’re taking 1/3 of my money and pulling some very shady business. I’ve started the work to report them to the state BAR.
My medical bills are in the $210,000+ range as of today. That’s not including physical therapy and follow up visits to the orthopedist and plastic surgeon. My insurance is treating my condition like a pre-existing condition and refuses to cover any of it.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated. I get to pay for the whole scooter, including interest. Since it was so new, I hadn’t made any payments on it yet. I’m in a huge bind and any little bit helps.
I believe in the goodness of people and the power of social media. I’ve seen it work for others, I can only hope it can help me out, too.
