I am collecting monetary donations to send to the school that I worked at in Uganda
Immediate Needs: $50 a month for rent,a lso, they need money to pay for the kids' porridge that they eat each day (for some of the kids this is the only meal they will receive all day) this costs $10 a week. And they need to pay the two teachers and the cook ($13 a month for each of them).
Since the organization doesn't have any support other than the donations from volunteers, but no volunteers are being sent there now due to their instability, the organization has no way to pay for any of this right now.
If there are enough donations, maybe we could sustain their program for a couple of years and they could use the money to buy textbooks or toys for the kids (they don't have any of these items currently).
If you are worried about your money being used for the right things I assure you that I personally know the director and the teachers and they are all amazing women. They sacrifice from their own pockets money that they can not even afford to give at times, and go without eating just so the kids can eat. I've seen them give up opportunities for jobs where they could get paid a decent wage, because they care about the outcome of these kids' lives. By the way, their wage is about half that a normal schoolteacher would get paid.
If you decide that maybe you want to support them more longterm (like $10 a month to pay for a week of porridge) please let me know, or one time donations are good and any amount will help (money goes a lot further there than here).
