Hi
My name is James Mckay. Im a singer/songwriter based in Edinburgh in Scotland.
Over the last 4/5 years i have been writing and performing my own material to anyone who will listen. The reaction to my music is always extremely positive and the main question i get asked is, why dont i send my music away? People are constantly telling me i have a very mainstream sound and should get my music onto disk and send it to record/publishing companies.
I recently took wind of this and saved enough money to make a demo in a recording studio. This turned out well, but i found once i had made it that the cost to have it look proffesional then duplicated would cost more than the demo itself. Also on further investigation, i have found that most companies still prefer packaged disks and presspacks to sending MP3’s. I have since put the demo online at www.myspace.com/jamiemckay
So after much begging, my friend, who is a radio sound engineer has agreed to help me record an album. His musical knowledge and technical ability will without a doubt make an astounding album. He has agreed to do this out of the kindness of his heart but advised i may have to get session musicians in for certain parts, and he knows a company that have great prices on CD cuplication and artwork. I have now picked the 11 songs that get the most reaction and have started recording the first song on thursday :)
This is where the good of the people hopefully comes into play.
I am requesting any financial help available to get the dream out of my head and onto disk. I have set myself the goal of July 26th 2009, as this is my birthday and also when i will be free from college to make that vital trip to London, where i intend to pester the life out of record companys and publishing companies with a product i can be proud of. Im hoping to make up to 500 copies of my album for maximum effect.
Your help would be much appreciated and anyone who donates will recieve a namecheck and thanks on my album.
Thanks for your time :)
J
