Chisholm Family Dairy in Nebraska sells fresh milk to local customers. Financial disaster has befallen this farm in the middle of a harsh winter. They, and their animals need your help!
By Nebraska law, customers must travel to a dairy farm to make a direct farm purchase. This family farm is in the midst of moving to a better location, more convenient for their customers, between the two largest cities in Nebraska, Omaha and Lincoln.
The move required them to build a new barn to house the cows. Being the dead of winter this is essential for their survival. A longtime customer recommended a contractor, who didn’t exactly work out. The Chisholm Family is now left with a huge debt to unpaid subcontractors, the barn is unfinished, and the 32 milking cows, 16 yearlings and 12 baby calves are still on the old farm awaiting the completion of the new barn.
Lots of volunteers have stepped forward to complete the barn. All we need is to raise the funds needed to complete the project and settle the unfortunate debts.
A Local Non-profit Steps in To Help the Family in Crisis
Donations are being taken on behalf of the family by Energy Rescue, a Nebraska based non profit committed to sustainable, green living and support for local farm enterprises.
Our goal is to raise $50,000. This will pay off the bills for work already completed and a loan from a family friend. It will also pay for the remaining supplies and labor needed for the heroic barn raising.
If you’d rather donate by mail, Energy Rescue, Inc. has set up a Private Fund for the Chisholm Family Farm.
Donation Checks can be mailed to: Chisholm Family Farm c/o First National Bank 4816 South 24th St, Omaha, NE 68107.

Farmers Andy & Laura Chisholm are very deserving of all the help we can find.
I just know in my heart this is all possible.
If the barn is not built, the cows moved off the old farm and the creamery able to do business this family will be facing homelessness and have to consider selling off all their Dairy Cows and more than 60 other barnyard animals and be out of business.
Losing them is just not an option. We have had a great outpouring of support of wonderful volunteers to help build this barn but we lack the materials & professional skills to make it all happen. We have found some very good construction professionals but they require payment to assist us.
As things stand now: the lumber and steel frames arrived at the Chisholm Farm, the footings have been cut out of the ill laid cement pad and the screws for the footings have been set in the concrete. The frame has now been installed in the cement pad.
In the midst of all this, a snowstorm dumped 6 inches of snow!
The siding for the barn has arrived and our Press Releases will inform the public about the Barn Raising, ways to Volunteer skills, help by donating materials or financial donations. Our Press Releases will focus on the positive ways our communities can come together and help Raise This Barn and Save This Farm Family.
Weather permitting the barn raising will continue this coming weekend.
We are going forward as a Community to Complete Building This Barn Despite what happened, to save this loving family and call on every that cares to come together and help.
Thanks for supporting our fundraising drive!

The siding for the barn will arrive on Monday 4th or Tuesday 5th after even more weather delays! So the barn raising won’t go off this weekend as hoped.
But, good news! Another supporter attached Pledgie to their website!
A standout business here 23 years in Omaha is well loved Ahmads Persian Cuisine in the Old Market, Ahmad has dedicated Saturday, March 16th to Celebrate The Chisholm Farm.
Our frame is complete… we had a contractor step up and offer to donate his time to organize the construction efforts ( a huge relief). Snow this week delayed things once again but we have concrete working happening over the weekend. There is a work day being organized for next Friday to get the siding done… :-)
Thank you, everyone for helping to make this happen!
NOW … WE NEED HELP WITH NAILING THE WOOD FRAMES INDOORS! *
This week starting on Saturday, April 20th We NEED MANY VOLUNTEERS to Come to the Farm and
Help Us Put up the WOOD FRAMES INSIDE THE BARN FOR
THE MILKING ROOM AND THE MILKING PARLOR.
We must get these Frames up so the Electrician can come and Run Wires … So We Can BRING THE COWS HOME!
<3 PLEASE COME OUT AND HELP US!
We are on a very tight time frame and we don’t want this farm to incur another double rent as we head into May.
Let’s Get This ONE FAMILY Safely Onto ONE FARM!
Several baby cows have already been lost born in snowstorms on the other farm away from the Chisholm Family. This family is still suffering and facing unbelievable loss.
This week was a real Heartbreaking week of loss, they had to sell their 3 Guardian Dogs to save their lives from terrible threats by an unreasonable neighbor.
Then, they had to sell off their sheep because without Guard Dogs on this Farm … the sheep are very vulnerable to attacks by the coyotes, 160 acres without the Chisholm Farm Dogs to protect the sheep and other farm animals… they just had to take these steps to save the lives of their beloved animals.
Our hearts are very heavy dealing with all of this overload of misfortune, but we press on!
Please HELP US This Weekend and bring a nailer, gloves, hammers and …
TOGETHER! … Let’s Build the Interior Rooms of this Orchard Hill Creamery and BRING THE COWS HOME To CHISHOLM FARM! <3
<3 Updates! SO MANY LOVING & CARING HEARTS!
It all started with just an ill laid solid cement pad, then volunteers WITH BIG HEARTS
came forward and with the help from contractors offering amazing discounts for their professional work and many volunteers that spent days in the freezing cold assembling this barn.
These wonderful Earth Angels working alongside the Chisholm Family with Children and All our Incredible Volunteers:
have cut the concrete slab, installed, drains, pipes and footings.
Set the steel frames, Brandon Tiller Construction,
Senator Don Preister and his brother Dean framed up and hung the siding, the roof was put on in one day with the help of Bennett & Sons Roofing Company, John Glover and friends
and the cement was poured for the milking pit in one day by
Jason and his wonderful Home Schoolers!
That brings us to today… we are standing here in awe…
looking at The Chisholm’s Pretty Perka Barn …
Built by Love, Blood, Sweat and So Many Tears!
<3 This is Truly a Miracle! <3
This is the Power of Community and Working Together!
We’ve had support from businesses, Bands and Artists playing Benefit Concerts and
Beautiful Artwork donated to help Save Chisholm Farm! Thank You ALL!
We’re not done yet! More Music and Art to come!
We’ve really come such a long way since that solid, cement slab…
Now…
Together We Need To Finish Building the Interior 5 Rooms of this Barn so we can
Bring Home the Cows from the old farm and Open the Doors of
The Orchard Hill Creamery for Business and SAVE CHISHOLM FARM!
