“My best friend and eternal companion passed away yesterday at 12:30 pm. She had bacterial meningitis that went undetected until the damage was irreversible. I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have convinced her to marry me and am so grateful we could spend 14 years together, 10 of which we were married. She loved family and friends. Being with those she loved brought her great joy. Please know that she loves you and that someday we will be a family all together again. Keep my 3 girls Brooklyn, Karalee, and Katelyn in your prayers.”

Kyle and Andrea have touched so many of our lives and, although we can’t ease the pain that Kyle, Brooklyn, Karalee, Katelyn and their extended family are going through, we want to help in someway.  We know there are many of you that would like to show your support as well so we set up a donation account for Andrea’s family.  This money will go towards funeral expenses, medical expenses, and the cost of raising these three beautiful children without their mother.

I feel so blessed to have been her visiting teaching companion for the time we lived in Springville and I can say she was the most dedicated person I had ever met when it came to service and the gospel. As we were sitting in Sunday School last week, I was thinking about Andrea’s lessons in the Kolob 7th ward. She was always so passionate and organized and I still have the outlines that she created for her lessons. You both set an amazing example for all of us and we are all sending love and prayers to you and your girls. You are an amazing person and we will continue to pray for you and the girls. You probably don’t remember us, but my family and I moved out of the ward about the time you guys moved in. I had the fortune of meeting your beautiful family a couple of times through the Burrs. I will always remember the sweet spirit that surrounded your family. Andrea will be so missed by all who knew her. There just aren’t adequate words for these moments. It is remarkable that after all these years, I can still clearly hear Andrea’s voice and laugh every time I see a picture of her. So few people are so unforgettable.

I’ve known Andrea since our families came to the Tropicana Ward in Las Vegas many years ago. Times like these make us wish for the same perspective that God has, so these times of grief and loss and separation would be more bearable. Many hearts ache with loss right now. As Elder Wirthlin said, this is like the Friday when the Savior died, but Sunday with the glorious resurrection and reunion will come.


Know that there are prayers said for you and your family, immediate and extended even from people who have never met you. Love you.
