Having a KIO slave for libferris would allow KDE users easy access to filesystems supported by libferris such as mounted postgresql, sql, xml, db4 files, flickr, google docs, statusnet, as well as “copy” to vimeo and youtube.
Given the diversity of filesystems offered by libferris the pledgie target is more of a ballpark figure to get base functionality in place. Specific filesystems offered by libferris may require special attention in the KIO exposure, so only a limited number of filesystems can be tested at first.
My LCA 2011 presentation gives an overview of some of the things libferris can do for you.
