)Hey flickaday community. Flickaday is out of money and we need your help. We are running this campaign to try and cover our server operating costs for the next year. We will do this once a year. As long as the community finds the site valuable enough to pay for the hosting costs, flickaday will remain in service. If we do not hit our goal, we will have no choice but to shut down. Anything over, our goal will be used to develop features that you the community have been asking for.

I wish I had more to give, but I’m happy to be able to give something. I’m not your mom or anything, but you may want to re-think using “flickafucked” in your description I know I’m getting old, but it’s a little off-putting and made me suspect this whole deal might be a scam.

Was just trying to inject a little humor, but if you think it’s offensive then hey why not try something else. If this campaign goes well then this is all we will need hopefully. If not, I will try one last strategy to see if I can keep flickaday around for everyone to continue using. Trust me, It breaks my heart more than any of you guys, but the truth is, the site never took off the way I would have hoped. We need a lot more people using the site and then we can command premium advertising dollars. The problem is that after 4 years it has become clear, that flickaday just doesn’t have the ability to be a massive internet site and so it has sort of remained more active than your typical blogging site, but less active than twitter or facebook and the big social players.
If this campaign fails, i’m going to try one other strategy to see if I can keep flickaday on the map, but I decided to give our community of users the benefit of the doubt. So far i’m happy that even this many of you find the site useful enough to open up your wallets, so that is encouraging. Also, anyone that donates will definitely be able to download all their data. I’ll make it a point to make that available.
