http://pledgie.com/campaigns/1437 My 5 year old doxie started having back pain on Friday. He is such an active little guy and I knew something was very wrong immediatly. I spent 3 hours at an emergency vet clinic to be told he would recover with steriods, pain meds and 4 weeks of crate rest. I woke up in the morning to see he was dragging his hind legs. I took him back to the emergency clinic and was told they would charge me again to have the vet look at him and I would need to drive an hour away to a neuro specialist since he would need surgery or intensive care. I brought him to the other facility and was given 3 options; have him medicated on stronger steriods to see if that would reverse the swelling, surgery, or if I couldn't afford surgery I would need to put him down. I asked them to give him stronger doses of steriods to see if this helped since surgery would be the next resort. I called in this morning to find out my boy has lost feeling in 1 of his hind legs. I need to have the surgery since his chances of being normal again all rely on surgery immediatly. I am asking any daschund lovers or dog lovers to help me with our surgery expense. I have already paid $1500 for 2 days of treatment and the surgery is approx. 3400.00! I want to keep my little man for as long as possible but don't have the money.
