Docs In Progress is a 501©(3) non-profit arts organization which gives individuals the tools to tell stories through documentary film to educate, inspire, and transform the way people view their world.
A large part of Docs In Progress work is spent developing community programs which are free or near free to the public. These include work-in-progress screenings, documentary appreciation salons, our quarterly e-newsletter, alumni showcase screenings, and most recently a community film festival in downtown Silver Spring.
As part of these programs, Docs In Progress cultivates community partnerships which enhance the work of emerging documentary filmmakers and also engage them in civic life. We work with community partners and sponsors like The Documentary Center at the George Washington University, Montgomery College, The Writer’s Center, the Renaissance Hotel Dupont Circle, and Modern Times Coffeehouse at Politics & Prose who support us by offering their space at little or no cost for our community programs.
Though this in-kind support allows us to do what we do, there are still significant costs associated with these programs — including staff time, outreach, equipment rentals, and reproducing program materials for program participants. These represent significant costs for Docs In Progress and depend greatly on support from people like you.
So if you want Docs In Progress to continue to provide the best in public programming, please support us with your donation.
If you don’t feel comfortable giving online, we also accept donations for by mail. Checks should be made out to Docs In Progress and sent to:

Docs In Progress appreciates whatever you can afford to give and looks forward to sharing the work of our amazing filmmakers with the community.

I’m a young inspiring filmmaker who can use all the help he can get to get my film off the ground. Please check out my pledgie page and blog and help spread through this online community. THANKS!
